Lady Gaga to Perform Free Concert in Rio de Janeiro

Pop star Lady Gaga confirmed that she will give a free show in Copacabana, Brazil on May 3rd under the name "Mayhem on the beach". The concert is part of the "Todo Mundo no Rio" initiative promoted by the city's Mayor's office, which aims to promote free international shows to boost tourism.

Lady Gaga surprised her followers in Latin America by expressing: "It is a great honor to be asked to sing for Rio; throughout my career, fans in Brazil have been a vital part of the Little Monsters' blood." After a decade without performing in Brazil, the artist emotionally recalled the canceled show in 2017 due to health problems: "I’ve been dying to come and perform for you for years, and it broke my heart when I had to cancel it."

The singer, who is recovering and preparing to launch her eighth album titled "Mayhem" on March 7th, is excited to return to the carioca country. The concert will be broadcast live on Globo and Multishow channels so that those who cannot attend in person can enjoy the show.

The success of Madonna’s show in 2024 encouraged Lady Gaga to continue the tradition of major free concerts on the beach. The investment of approximately 1.9 million dollars by the municipality of Rio de Janeiro in last year’s Lady Gaga event generated an estimated return of 57 million dollars for the city, mainly through tourism, hotels, restaurants, and related services.
